When the thumbs database becomes corrupted, page faults will occur. You may notice these more frequently when browsing a folder in Thumbnail view. The following Tech-Recipes tutorial explains how to fix this.
A corrupt thumbs.db can lead to page faults. The fix is to blast the thumbs.db file in the directories and subdirectories that give you the error.
The official windows help file suggests that you simply unhide hidden files and delete the thumb.db file. The problem with this is that everytime you browse that folder, you will get the fault. So you may have to use a command prompt to get to the file.
- 1. Open Windows Explorer .
2. Click View menu.
3. Click View tab.
4. Click Show All Files.
5. Click OK.
6. Navigate to the folder in question.
7. Delete thumbs.db .
8. Delete thumbs.db in subdirectories.
If it does crash, then open a command prompt, and delete the file that way. Likewise, you can change all the folder views temporarily.

3. Click Tools menu.
4. Click Folder Options.
5. Click View tab.
6. Click Apply to All Folders.
7. Navigate to the folder in question.
8. Delete thumbs.db.
9. Delete thumbs.db in subdirectories.
