Upload Pictures from Picasa/Picasa2 to Flickr with Tags, Descriptions, and Title

I enjoy using Flickr and Picasa. Using this shortcut, you can export/email pictures from Picasa to Flickr with ease. This technique also allows you to set your tags, picture title, and description at the time of the upload.

By using Gmail, you can easily upload pictures from Picasa to Flickr. New changes in Flickr allow you to upload the tags, picture title, and descriptions as well.

Email from Picasa2 to Flickr:

    1. Log into your Flickr account.
    2. Click the http://flickr.com/account/uploadbyemail/link.
    3. Copy the email address listed on this page. You may also wish to set a global tag/tags to all pictures emailed to Flickr. I use “email_flickr” or something similiar just for reference.
    4. Load Picasa2.
    5. Within Picasa, click the Tools menu and then Options.
    6. Select the Email tab, select Use My Gmail Account, and set the size of picture you wish to send.
    7. Click OK.
    8. Select a picture or pictures to upload.

Note: All pictures uploaded at once will share the same tag, title, and descriptions; therefore, it is best to upload small, similar groups of pictures this way. If you need to change information, just email another group. Even doing one picture at a time is still fairly efficient.

    9. Click the Email button at the bottom.
    10. Fill in your Gmail information if it asks for it.
    11. In the to: line, paste the email address that you obtained from Flickr.
    12. In the subject line, type what you want to title the picture
    13. If you want to put tags, you can also add tags on the subject line by placing them after the text tags:
The following is an example of a subject line: Christmas Pictures tags: xmas tree Santa
    14. Clear the body of the email. If you want a detailed description of the pictures, you replace the current text with whatever description you wish.
    15. Click Send.

Your pictures will now be on Flickr with the information that you set.
