Many people are complaining that the text in their browser looks unclear after installing IE7. This is because IE7 enabled ClearType by default. Here is how to fix that problem.
Be default, IE7 enables ClearType font rendering in the browser. Most people, especially those with LCD screens, will notice a big improvement (if ClearType is not installed already). However, many people will not like this type of font smoothing.
Here is options for fixing it.
You may want to completely disable it:
- 1. Open IE7.
2. Open the Tool menu.
3. Click Internet Options.
4. Click the Advanced tab.
5. Under Multimedia, clear the Use ClearType checkbox.
6. Click OK two times.
It may be that you might actually like ClearType if it were better tuned for your screen. You can tune ClearType here.
