After Windows Updates are installed, your computer will be forced to reboot. This can be inconvenient if you are running other applications at the time. You can prevent this from happening by making a change to your registry.
1. Click the Orb (Start Button).
2. Go to the Search programs and files textbox and input regedit.
3. Select regedit.exe from the results.
4. When the UAC prompt appears, click the Yes button.
5. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Polices\Microsoft\Windows
6. In the right pane, right-click an empty area.
7. Click New and select Key.
8. Name the newly created key WindowsUpdate.
9. In the left pane, right-click the newly created WindowsUpdate.
10. Click New and select Key.
11. Name the newly created key AU.
12. Making sure that the new key is selected in the left pane, right-click an empty area.
13. Click New and select DWORD (32-bit) Value.
14. Name the newly created DWORD NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers.
15. Right-click the newly created DWORD and click Modify.
16. In the Value date textbox, make the value 1 and click OK.
17. Close regedit.
18. Restart your computer.
