I love real life gadgets but completely hate them taking up my desktop space. Disabling gadgets will help your system run leaner and will reclaim some of that vital desktop real estate.
I am not a gadget fan. I do not like them in Windows or in OS X. There are various ways to turn gadgets off and hide them. The most simple way to get rid of gadgets is just to disable the feature all together.
Here is how to Disable the Gadget feature in Windows 7.
1. Open Start Menu
2. In the search box type turn windows
3. Select Turn Windows features on or off
4. Deselect the Windows Gadget Platform checkbox and click OK
