There are thousands of newsgroups out there covering everything under the sun. Even if you are using another application for your email needs, you might want to try out Windows Mail for accessing newsgroups (for instance, Outlook cannot be used as a newsreader).
1. Click Tools and select Accounts.
2. Click the Add button.
3. Select Newsgroup Account and click Next.
4. Input a display name and click Next.
5. Input your email address that you want people to reply to and click Next.
6. Input the name of the Internet New Server you will be accessing.
7. If you are required to supply a username and password, check the My news server requires me to log on checkbox. Click Next to provide these credentials (if you want Windows Mail to remember your password, check the Remember password checkbox).
8. Click Next.
9. Click Finish.
10. Click Close to close the Internet Accounts window.
11. In the Subscrive to newsgroups window, select to either show available newsgroups with or without Communities turned on.
12. Windows Mail will download the list of available newsgroups from the server. Depending on the amount of newsgroups available, this may take a few minutes.
13. In the Newsgroup Subscriptions window, select each newsgroup you wish to subscribe to followed by clicking the Subscribe button. You can search the newsgroups for a particular topic to make finding what you want much easier.
14. Click OK.
15. The newsgroup(s) you subscribed to will appear beneath the server name in your Folders List.
16. Click on a newsgroup to download the latest data.
