Rendering from camtasia to divx in one step is essential for recording screencasts. However, in some cases, the divx codec will not appear for encoding. Here is how to find it.
Capturing and editing a screencast in camtasia and then rendering down with divx is an excellent, high quality option. Divx is one of the preferred formats for youtube, for example.
However, in many cases, the divx encoder will not appear in the AVI encoding options.
First, make sure you have downloaded and installed the divx suite. You will need to reboot after doing this.
Next, in the avi production screen, you must select that your video color depth be 24-bit or higher or the divx encoding option will not appear.
Step by step directions from camtasia studio for finding the divx compressor.
1. Click File
2. Select Produce Video As
3. Select AVI video from the wizard
4. In the colors dropdown box, selct 24-bit or higher.
5. Click the Video Compression button
6. Select Divx from the Compressor dropdown box
7. Click OK
Now you can set the rest of your settings as you typically would.
