By default, when you close the Skype window in Windows 7, its icon will still appear in your Taskbar. If you find this unnecessary, you can follow this tutorial to remove it, and keep your Taskbar clean.
1. Launch Skype.
2. Go to Tools -> Options.
3. When the Options window pops up, navigate to Advanced -> Advanced settings from the left side of the window.
4. Uncheck Keep Skype in the Taskbar while I’m signed in on the right side of the window.
5. From now, when you close the Skype window, its icon will not appear in your Taskbar anymore.
