If your cell phone doesn’t have a data plan, you can still post updates to Google+ using SMS. Some people may even find this to be a quicker method of updating Google+ than using the iOS or Android apps.
First you need to register your cell phone with Google+. To do this, go to your Google+ account, click the Options icon in the upper-right corner and select Google+ settings. Go to the Phone section and complete the phone registration process.
Create a new contact for Google+ on your Phone. If you live in the United States, the number to give this contact is 33669 (if you live outside the US, you need to contact Google to get the proper SMS number).
To post to Google+ using SMS:
Create a new text message (SMS) to the Google+ contact that you created.
By default, your posts will be shared with all of your Circles. If you wish to change the audience, there are additional tags you can use.
The following message would create a post viewed by all of your Circles:
Tech-Recipes just posted a new article
If we wanted to only allow a specific Circle to see the post, we would tag the message with +[circlename] using the name of the desired Circle:
Tech-Recipes just posted a new article +techpeeps
To only allow a specific person to view the post, you tag the message with +[emailaddress] using the person’s email address.
Tech-Recipes just posted a new article [email protected]
Extended Circles can view the post if you add the +extended tag:
Tech-Recipes just posted a new article +extended
If you want everyone to see the post, use +public:
Tech-Recipes just posted a new article +public
