Instead of having to actually go to your Gmail or Google Reader and then searching from there, you can use the address bar on your Chrome web browser for performing the search. As long as you are logged into your account, you will go directly to the desired search results.
To search Gmail from Chrome:
1. Open Chrome.
2. Right-click the address bar and select Edit search engines.
3. Click the Add button.
4. Input a Name (Gmail) and a keyword (gmail) and use the following for the URL box:
https://mail.google.com/mail/#search/%s
5. Click the OK button.
6. Click the Close button.
When you want to search Gmail, simply input gmail into the address bar and press tab. Search Gmail: will appear in the address bar. Input your search criteria and press return.
To search Google Buzz from Chrome:
1. Open Chrome.
2. Right-click the address bar and select Edit search engines.
3. Click the Add button.
4. Input a Name (Google Buzz) and a keyword (gbuzz) and use the following for the URL box:
https://mail.google.com/mail/#buzz/search/%s
5. Click the OK button.
6. Click the Close button.
When you want to search Google Buzz, simply input gbuzz into the address bar and press tab. Search Google Buzz: will appear in the address bar. Input your search criteria and press return.
To search Google Reader from Chrome:
1. Open Chrome.
2. Right-click the address bar and select Edit search engines.
3. Click the Add button.
4. Input a Name (Google Reader) and a keyword (greader) and use the following for the URL box:
https://www.google.com/reader/view/?tab=my#search/%s
5. Click the OK button.
6. Click the Close button.
When you want to search Google Reader, simply input greader into the address bar and press tab. Search Google Reader: will appear in the address bar. Input your search criteria and press return.
