By default, Google Voice will both email you and send a text message to your mobile phone to alert you about new voicemail messages. If your current cellular plan isn’t SMS friendly, meaning they charge you for each one, you can disable this functionality to avoid unnecessary costs.
1. Go to your Google Voice.
2. Go to the upper-right of the page and select Settings.
3. Select the General tab.
4. Go to the Notifications section.
5. Beneath Send a text (SMS) message to: you will see a checkmark next to your mobile phone(s), uncheck it.
6. Click the Save Changes button.
