Google Music Beta: Modify Bandwidth and Upload Speed

Google Music Beta is a new cloud music streaming service that Google is offering in beta.  Upon installing the Music Manager on your PC or Mac, it will need to upload your library into Google Music cloud.  Lets take a look at how to change the amount of bandwidth thats used to do this upload.

Google Music Beta will allow you to upload your music into Google’s servers and then allow you to stream them from a web page or via the Music app for Android devices.  At the moment, the Beta is invite only, so head over to here to sign up if you haven’t already.

Also, the limit of songs that you can upload to Google Music is currently at 20,000.  If you have more, the Music Manager will warn you that the limit is 20,000.  So if you are one of these people that are approaching this limit, the initial upload can take a while and can drag down your internet connection speeds.  You can modify the amount of bandwidth used via the Music Manager.

1. Install the Music Manager if you haven’t already by going to the Google Music web page.

2.  Open up the Google Music Manager from your Taskbar.

3. Click on Options

4. Then click on the Advanced tab.  In the middle is a Bandwidth setting.  You can have it trickle upload by using a lower setting but again it taking a longer time.  I’d recommend medium during the day and then at night crank it up to Fastest possible and make sure your PC doesn’t go to sleep.
