The Facebook mail address has a host of new features compared to other common mail providers. The goal is to become the user’s social inbox. The Facebook mail system has not yet been officially released and is currently based on invites.
The first step is to check whether you have a username already selected.
Go to Account -> Account Settings.
Check whether you already have a username. If not, then choose one. Keep in mind that the username once chosen cannot be changed. Your facebook email address will be [email protected] so choose carefully. For example, if your username is johnsmith then your facebook email address will become [email protected].
Visit the page http://www.facebook.com/about/messages/ and login.
Click on the Request an Invitation button.
Once you have requested the invitation, you will receive access within a few days from Facebook.
