If you are utilizing the main menu and find that you never use the Command Bar (the icons and dropdowns located beneath the Search Bar), you can hide it by following these instructions:
1. Open up Notepad and copy the following:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\CommandBar]
"Enabled"=dword:00000000
2. Save the text file and rename it to for example “IE7_NoCommandBar”. Then merge it into the registry by double clicking it.
To return the Command Bar to the browser use:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\CommandBar]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
