For whatever reason, gmail bounces a copy of emails sent via POP back into the POP’s account inbox. For example, if you POP your email from gmail using OS X Mail, a copy of any message you send will appear in your Mail inbox. This tutorial will show you how to work around this problem.
Eventually gmail will stop doing this with POP. For now, we have to work around this problem.
Using the rules feature in OS X’s Mail program, we can delete these emails.
1. Under the Mail menu, click Preferences
2. Click the Rules button at the top
3. Click Add Rule
4. Name the rule whatever
5. Under conditions select the following:
From Contains [email protected]
(where [email protected] is your actual gmail address)
5. Under actions select the following:
Delete Message
6. Click OK
